Scripture: Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. (Hebrews 13:20-21)
Occasionally I encounter situations in which I simply do not know what to do. I throw my hands up in the air in utter desperation. "God, You have to take this one. I can't." In spite of my best intentions, my will, hands and feet are limited.
Then God's Word begins to remind me of who I am, who He is, and what resources I can access to effect change because I am His. He is my Source and Originator. He equips me with everything good for doing His well. He works in me to do what is pleasing to Him. I am not the source of the will and power to do His will. He is.
With that realization, I can stop looking to myself to bring forth what is necessary to face that burden. Instead, I look to Him.
It is humbling to come to the end of ourselves and see how weak we are, yet it is in that lowly place that God's power is most evident. As the apostle Paul wrote, "God's power is made perfect in weakness. When I am weak, then I am strong." (2 Corinthians 12:8-10)
