Scripture: "...through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death." (Romans 8:1)
One of the songs playing on Christian radio right now is Chain Breaker by Zach Williams. These are the lyrics:
If you’ve been walking the same old road for miles and miles
If you’ve been hearing the same old voice tell the same old lies
If you’re trying to fill the same old holes inside
There’s a better life
There’s a better life
If you’ve got pain
He’s a pain taker
If you feel lost
He’s a way maker
If you need freedom or saving
He’s a prison-shaking Savior
If you’ve got chains
He’s a chain breaker
We’ve all searched for the light of day in the dead of night
We’ve all found ourselves worn out from the same old fight
We’ve all run to things we know just ain’t right
And there’s a better life
There’s a better life
If you believe it
If you receive it
If you can feel it
Somebody testify
This is the universal testimony of every Christian. Enslaved to sin, then freed by the Lord Jesus Christ. No longer slaves to sin. No longer slaves to fear. No longer slaves to guilt.
Sin had separated me from a holy, awesome God who can tolerate no sin. I deserved eternal separation from God. By the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, I was forgiven and cleansed. Jesus, the Perfect One, became a bridge, so that I could know this holy, awesome God, and stand in His presence without condemnation.
The apostle Paul writes, "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death." (Romans 8:1)
No condemnation. Set free from the chains of sin.
"You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness." (Romans 6:18) Now in my new life, I have a new master, an eternal, omnipotent, righteous, loving God. In God, there is forgiveness, righteousness, goodness, kindness, freedom, and purpose,
If you are still a slave to sin, if you still carry the burden of guilt and shame, know that there is a better life. In Jesus Christ, we have a Pain Taker, a Way Maker, a Prison-Shaking Savior, a Chain Breaker.
How to get this better life? Simply ask. "God, I acknowledge that I have been a slave to sin. I don't want to live like that any more. I believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for me and forgave my sins. I choose to live as Your child, no longer as a slave to sin." As you grow in your new faith, you must nurture it by regular communion with God through prayer and reading the Bible. Also, seek out a church so that you can grow through fellowship with other believers.
No condemnation. Set free from the chains of sin. Such freedom is sweet and refreshing to the soul, and available to all who seek it.
